Football Information

My name is Phil Anderson, and I am the head coach of the Forest Lawn/Jack James High School Football team.

I am writing this to inform you of some important information regarding the upcoming season.

I am asking any players that have not gotten a tryout form yet to come to Forest Lawn High School (Back door by the cafeteria entrance) to meet me on Friday August 21 between 2:00 and 4:00 to pick one up and have filled out for the start of practices on Monday August 24. All players need to have one of these filled out prior to participating in on-field activities. This mostly applies to students entering grade ten as many players that participated in the spring camp have already handed in this form.

If you are a returning player and have not done this yet, you also will need to pick one up prior to participating.

We will also be handing out equipment on this day to players that have not already been fitted up.

We will be starting practices for the season on Monday August 24. (So all tryout forms need to be returned to me by this date in order to participate in on field activities).

Practice schedule for week one:

Monday, August 24- 1:30-3:30

Tuesday, August 25- 1:30-3:30

Wednesday, August 26- 2:30-4:30

Thursday, August 27-2:30-4:30

Friday, August 28-2:00-4:00

I realize these dates are the week before school starts up, but we have a jamboree on September 4 and need to get down to business. (All other schools will be doing the same.

Practices for all other weeks of the season will run from 4:00-6:00.

I am looking forward to a successful season ahead and welcoming all our new players and returning players and developing great teammates, athletes, and respectful members of our community, while taking the step towards being very competitive and making other teams take notice of our players and what they are made of.

Respectfully

Phil Anderson

JJ Teams

Jack James has a proud tradition of competing in athletic interscholastic sports. Our teams compete in the Calgary High School Sport League made up of schools with a similar population. We offer volleyball, basketball, and badminton. We compete against the large schools in wrestling, cross-country, swimming and track and field. Jack James and Forest Lawn have become a dual campus and as a result students are eligible to participate in sports on either campus in consultation with their respective administration. For sports that we are unable to offer, like football and rugby, our neighbour school, Forest Lawn High School, accepts our athletes.

Intramural

We offer an extensive noon hour intramural program at Jack James.  The focus of our intramural program is to give our students competitive activities that are based on fun and involvement.  Everybody is always welcome to join these teams.  You don’t have to be skilled to be involved and enjoy yourself.  Flag football, volleyball, 3-on-3 basketball, floor-hockey, badminton, and indoor soccer make up our intramural league.

Through active participation, staff and students contribute to the positive spirit at Jack James High School and positively impact  their personal health and wellness.
